What's this Dopey Day Out lark?

Many years ago the founders of the company wondered how to expand the spectrum of social activities. During the time of wondering a man appeared to the founders on a flying chapatti and pronounced: "From this time onwards members of B.A.T.S. will congregate on the third Sunday in July at a nice place for a day of relaxation and chitchat, preferably near some water. So they did.

And we go camping too...

It is written in B.A.T.S. lore that its followers should spend a Bank Holiday weekend together in the sanctuary of tents and caravans. This has of late been the August Bank Holiday, due to the many climatic advantages. Venues have included Sizewell, Kessingland and East Harling, arriving on Friday or Saturday and going home on Monday. It is during this time that great happenings take place. Jim's flaming barbeque, the tasting of Stroh 80 (liquid fire), walks on the beach, large amounts of wind (not all from Keith) and rain (remember Sizewell 2000), swimming in the sea (sometimes naked), beach fires, consumption of falling-over water etc.
